harley davidson Local resident, Zoe Hill, last week celebrated her 40th birthday in style as she took to the road on the back of a Harley-Davidson® Fatboy Special motorcycle ridden by Black Bear Dealer Principal Steve Loxton.

Zoe – who was diagnosed in 2006 with an incurable medical condition, Wegeners Granulomatosis – fulfilled her dream of riding pillion on a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle after it was secretly organised as a surprise special birthday gift from devoted husband Garry. It was one of the many things that she thought she would be unable to ever achieve after receiving her life-changing diagnosis, which was the reason for the couple’s move to the local area. They are now situated closer to Papworth Hospital where she can get the specialist care required for her condition.

The pair have also had help and support from the Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation, which works to raise awareness of the disease, fund cure research and support and advise patients.

Black Bear Dealer Principal, Steve Loxton, said: “When Garry contacted me and told me how Zoe cheerfully copes with this dreadful illness, I felt we had to help. It was great to see how much she enjoyed the experience and to be part of helping her achieve the satisfaction she gained from fulfilling a lifetime ambition.”

Even the weather behaved itself for the important occasion as Zoe was chauffeured around the villages surrounding Newmarket.

She said: ‘It was the best day ever and it made me forget about everything else happening in my life. The sound of the Harley-Davidson was fantastic and it took me back to one of my earliest memories of riding on the tank of my brother’s motorbike when I was a little girl – although that bike wasn’t quite as special!”
