Round 4 – Maxxis British Motocross Championship – Milton MX Park, Northampton (Nico Aubin)

Buildbase Honda’s Nico Aubin stormed the Milton MX Park to take his first win of the 2013 ACU Maxxis British Motocross Championship while team-mate Steve Ramon improved on his performance to move up the standings table.

Yesterday started well for Buildbase Honda with Aubin qualifying three seconds faster than his rivals to take pole. In the first moto, it was Route 77 Energy Honda rider Tanel Leok that got the holeshot as they headed into the first corner. Aubin found himself in fourth position but soon made his way into second. Despite a good battle with Leok, Aubin couldn’t get past and he finished second come the flag.

In moto two, Aubin got a poor start off the line, leaving him with a lot of work to do. Throughout the race he battled through the pack to fourth place, but on the final lap he crashed in a deep rut causing the bike to cut out. He eventually crossed the line in 19th, while fellow Honda rider Leok took first place.

For the final moto of the day, the weather had taken a turn for the worse, making track conditions extremely difficult. Aubin took the decision to sit out of the sighting lap and prepare for the race – a decision which paid off seeing him dominate the race and take the win.

The weekend brought mixed results for Ramon. Starting in 10th for moto one, he got a good start and fought hard to maintain his performance, bringing his Buildbase Honda CRF450R home in fifth place. For the final motos Ramon’s pace dropped a little, finishing in 16th and 15th respectively. Despite this, he still moves two places higher in the championship order and now sits in eighth place.

Route 77 Energy Honda’s Tanel Leok now heads the championship table as the ACU Maxxis British Motocross Championship makes its way to round five at Foxhill, Swindon on Sunday 2 June.
