Yamaha Ride to Work Day 2013

Yamaha staff once again did their part for national Ride to Work Day (R2WD), celebrated this year on Monday 17th June. The Yamaha ride-out was just one of a huge number of events happening all over the UK at motorcycle dealerships, biker-friendly cafes and pubs. There have also been ride-outs organised by owners’ clubs and bike organisations such as BikeSafe, as well as manufacturers.

Once again R2WD provided a great opportunity for Yamaha Motor UK to get behind the national initiative by offering its staff, whether their daily commute involves a motorcycle or car, a sociable opportunity to meet up and ride in to work. Yamaha Motor UK is based in the county of Surrey, which is home to the North Downs, so this year’s theme was the Surrey Hills. Starting with breakfast at The Barn café at Newlands Corner, staff then set off for the office on a ride through the stunning scenery offered by the Surrey Hills.

Karl Radley, Marketing Coordinator said: ‘Using two-wheels to commute really is the way forward and R2WD is a great way of highlighting the benefits of motorcycles and scooters as a method of transport. Our journey would have taken far longer had we been in a car or taken public transport and we would have missed out on the fun of the ride and the fantastic roads so local to us. And with the Get On campaign, it really couldn’t be simpler for people to get on to two-wheels, share the same thrill as we experienced on R2WD, as well as save money and reduce congestion.’

For people that haven’t taken the plunge, take a free ride with Get On at – it could be the start of something great!
