MIXED RESULTS FOR BUILDBASE HONDA AT HAWKSTONE PARK

It was a weekend of mixed results for Buildbase Honda at the seventh round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship at Hawkstone Park in Shropshire, with Brad Anderson securing some solid results but Nico Aubin being forced to retire due to injury.

The day started well with both riders advancing into Superpole, where Aubin finished second fastest just ahead of team-mate Anderson in sixth. As the gate dropped for the first race, the pair got boxed in round the first turn and subsequently had to battle from mid-pack. Anderson quickly worked his way into the top ten to finish sixth, however Aubin suffered a heavy crash and despite trying to continue he was forced to retire at half race distance.

Aubin went on to attempt race two, but the pain is his back and shoulder proved too much and he withdrew following the sighting lap. This left Anderson as the sole Buildbase Honda rider in the remaining two races and he responded by scoring a third place finish in the second moto, withstanding the late charge of both Gert Krestinov and series leader Kristian Whatley.

In the final race of the day Anderson again made a solid start and worked his way into fourth position, when unfortunately the race was red flagged due to an injured rider on the circuit, stopping any further progress. Anderson’s solid results placed him fourth overall on the day and fourth in the championship standings. Aubin’s bad luck saw him drop to sixth.

It’s been another great day for Brad. He is probably a little bit disappointed but for us as a team it’s another three solid results. Unfortunately for Nico, he crashed and hurt himself in the first race and that was his day over. It almost sums up the season so far with Nico and the highs and lows, but that’s racing and he will be back stronger at the next event.

I’ve been ill this last week and haven’t been able to get out on the bike as I’d like, so it’s been a good day considering, I had a bad first race with a sixth but then got a third and fourth which was good for fourth overall on the day. I’ve scored some good points for the championship and can only get stronger on the Honda from now on.
