KTM Duke 200 Comes to India in 2012

After months of speculation about Bajaj bringing the KTM Duke to India, the word is finally out – KTM Duke 200 will arrive in India at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. It is slated that we will get to see the muscular bike hitting the road shortly since KTM bikes have already been spotted testing a number of times around the Bajaj’s manufacturing plant at Chekan near Pune.

KTM Duke 200 will be a 200cc all aluminum engine generating a power of 25PS and this rev happy engine very easily reaches the 11,000 rpm mark. The engine is capable of doing 100kmph in under 9 secs and is capable of reaching 140kmph, before the rev limiter kicks in. Duke also gets 6-Speed close ratio gearbox which offer smooth gear shifts.

On the price front Duke might be priced between Rs. 1.1-1.3 Lakhs. At this price the bike will be placed between the other two premium offerings Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR250R. Duke 200 definitely way ahead of the Yamaha R15 in terms of performance and when compared to the Honda CBR250R, the Duke is much lighter to handle. Overall, the Duke is more of a practical city bike.

KTM is company based of Austria, has partnered with Bajaj in production KTM Duke series of bikes. These bikes have been successfully been launched across europe and are expected hit the Indian shores by 2012. Duke 125/200 will be on display at 2012 Delhi auto expo

KTM Duke 200 has been spotted recently Pune while being tested. Price of KTM duke 125cc is expected to be around 1 – 1.25 lac and KTM Duke 200 around 1.5 – 1.8 Lac’s. However, After looking at Price of Ninja 650R, we can very well expect a big surprise yet again from the Bajaj.

Bajaj is taking its concept of pro biking very seriously. They poised to bring in lot of high end bikes to India in near future. After the recent success of Ninja 650R bookings. They have understood the market potential for premium bikes.

KTM is also expected to launch a range of accessories for this bike. KTM is internationally known for very interesting after market catalog that might include performance parts and KTM branded apparels. Bajaj has tasted success with both its premium offerings Ninja 250R and Ninja 650R and now after the arrival of KTM bikes to India is yet another feather in the cap for Bajaj Auto.
