Breakout Harley-Davidson has released two exciting new models to further increase its wide and increasingly popular range of American-made motorcycles. The Breakout, priced from £15,645 on the road, is a new member to the Softail® family. Breakout is styled in a long and low-slung chopper-style accentuated by a black and chrome 103ci (1690cc) engine, distinctive 240-section rear tyre and thick, long forks.

HD Breakout The 2013 Breakout has a distinctive finish from specific components not available on other Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. Chopped fenders, a shaved tank console and drag-style handlebar keeps the profile low. The Gasser wheels are new and specific to the Breakout. Based on Gasser-style style drag racing wheels from the 1960s and ’70s, both wheels feature 10 half-round spokes with alternating spokes machined to remove the black covering paint and match the unpainted rim.

The Breakout’s Softail chassis mimics the clean lines of a vintage hardtail frame, but utilises rear suspension provided by coil-over shock absorbers mounted horizontally and out of sight within the frame rails. The Breakout is fitted with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard equipment along with a Harley-Davidson factory-installed security system.

The first sighting in the UK for Harley-Davidson customers will take place on Thursday 2 May 2013 with a VIP Reveal event to take place at all official UK Harley-Davidson dealerships. The VIP Reveal event will be by invitation only, but all authorised dealerships will be holding a test ride weekend on 4-5 May with demonstrator test rides* available.

Talking about the new Breakout, Harley-Davidson Styling Manager Kirk Rasmussen said: “With Breakout, we got down to motorcycle essentials, which means emphasising the powertrain and the wheels. The black and chrome engine visually pops out of the centre of the bike, and then to maximise the impact of the tyres, the fenders are chopped. We wanted a lot of rubber showing to give the Breakout a tough, muscular look.”

Street Bob Special Edition Also new from the world famous American motorcycle manufacturer is the Street Bob Special Edition. Based on the successful Street Bob from the Dyna® range of custom cruisers, the Street Bob Special Edition, priced from £11,445 on the road, takes the street appeal of the cut down bobber-look that little bit further.

The Special Edition model retains the Street Bob’s classic single seat, mini ape-hanger bars and minimalist fenders, but, where the standard Street Bob carries a Twin Cam 96™ (1585cc) engine, the Special Edition comes as standard with a rubber-mounted Twin Cam 103™ (1690cc) V-Twin engine that produces a hefty 95.9ftlbs of torque.

HD Street Bob Special The Street Bob Special Edition also comes with a distinctive two-tone scallop paint and steel wire-spoked wheels with attention-grabbing red rims to deliver a bike that stands out by its looks just as much as its sound. ABS braking is standard fitment on the Special Edition whereas it is an option on the standard machine.

The first public appearance of the new Street Bob Special Edition will be the weekend of 23-24 March 2013 when Harley-Davidson dealerships hold an Open House event, whereby Harley-Davidson owners and fans can join celebratory activities to mark the introduction of the new Limited Edition Street Bob.

Commenting on the 2013 Street Bob Special Edition, Harley-Davidson UK & Ireland Marketing Manager Steven Colling said: “The Street Bob Special Edition celebrates the ‘bobber’ motorcycle in an ‘out of the crate’ way that only Harley-Davidson can pull off. Having the larger 103 engine and ABS as standard underlines the rest of the Special Edition’s unique styling touches. Make no mistake; this new Street Bob is very special indeed.”
