A GREAT BRITISH ICON THAT’S FIT FOR THE QUEEN (AND JOHN MAJOR)

British manufacturer Triumph Motorcycles has donated a limited edition Diamond Jubilee Bonneville to The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust as a mark of gratitude for Her Majesty The Queen’s work as Head of the Commonwealth over the past 60 years. The Bonneville, which features a unique paint scheme, was presented to the Chairman of the Trust, former Prime Minister The Rt Hon Sir John Major, KG, CH, at the House of Lords by Triumph Motorcycles Chairman Lord Digby Jones, in September.

The Leicestershire-based motorcycle business is a British manufacturing success story, flourishing in the UK and across the global stage. Triumph has maintained its strong position within the marketplace through investment in an extensive R&D programme, which has led to the launch of six new models in the past two years as well as widespread acclaim for the quality of its products.

Known across the world for producing stylish, high quality motorcycles, Triumph continues to produce the iconic Bonneville which remains one of its best-selling models. The Diamond Jubilee bike, which is one of a limited edition of just 60 machines, is set to become a coveted collectors’ item.

The bike will be auctioned and the proceeds used by the Trust to fund projects across the Commonwealth, with the aim of providing an enduring impact across all generations and geographical boundaries. The Trust is working to deliver iconic projects within its five year lifespan that represent a fitting tribute to Her Majesty The Queen’s remarkable 60 year reign.

Lord Digby Jones, Chairman of Triumph Motorcycles, said: “The Diamond Jubilee Trust is doing tremendous work across the Commonwealth and as a British manufacturer, we felt that we should be supporting its work. As Britain’s largest motorcycle producer, we felt the most fitting way to support the Trust would be to donate a limited edition model designed specifically to celebrate the Queen’s 60 years’ reign.

“The Jubilee Bonneville is a wonderful machine that has some unique design touches. Finished in silver, the bike’s paintwork incorporates a union flag and Jubilee medals and I am sure that when the bike is auctioned it will help to raise money to enable the Trust to make a difference”.
